Torches are a basic utility item in BatMUD. They can provide light, though it’s preferable to get a source of infravision or some illumium shards. Torches can also be used as a source of fire in many cases when it’s time to burn something, such as spider webs.

The easiest source of torches is the torch creation skill, but they also pop up a lot in newbie areas and some shops.
