Purpose

In the interest of doing what I can to help the game's playerbase recover from the continent tune, I'm offering completely free copies of any ship map I have. As of this writing I have access to fairly plentiful sources of map scrolls, so there should be little or no waiting involved with me sending you map copies, aside from the obvious delay of me needing to get your request and take care of it.

In order to sail places with any real speed your ship needs to have bookcases full of maps for the various destinations and waypoints. Finding tradelanes, locating their waypoints, surveying them, and compiling paths to various locations, well, kinda blows. It is not precisely difficult, but takes a lot of time and is just one more layer of tedium standing between you and freedom from the ferries. Even a class six navigator getting the bonus of surveying on a tradelane fails about half the time on the open ocean.

FAQ:

Q: How should I request maps?

A: Mail a list of what you want to "presence@megami.com", along with the name of your ship. Obviously, use the names listed below so I know what you're talking about. Make sure you can accept maps on your ship via "bookcase accept". Barring spectacularly high requests, you should get them within a day or two at the most.

Q: How can I send you blank maps for you to use?

A: As of this writing, I have access to all the blank maps I need. Donations are of course welcome, but I'm not even remotely hurting for blank maps. To actually go about it, go to your captain's cabin and try "bookcase give blank tsunami"

Q: Your map names suck.

A: That's not a question. Anyway, yes, they're very verbose and confusing, but it was the best way I could think of for them to be at least somewhat descriptive of their location. You can name them what you please with "bookcase rename oldname newname". Also, it shouldn't matter too much once your path aliases are set up.

A: Ooga suggests the following naming convention: "For names, what I did on mine was use 2 letter codes..."la" for laenor, etc. then the waypoint nearest the ferry was 50. then clockwise around the continent, I increment by 5, and decrement by 5 counterclockwise. in places with a fork (only a few of those), I use like "la50-1" etc. then if I need to put another waypoint in the middle, I can do something less than 5'. So from laenor to furn is la50,la45,la40,la35,lafu (laenor-furn connection), fu45,fu50"

Q: Why is the ship's "paths" command so anemic?

A: It used to be pretty useless, but nowdays if you're running into trouble it probably means you have a very poor navigator. Upgrade it.

Available Ship Maps

You'll notice that the names I use are quite long and rather awkward to type. You can feel free to rename them, but I'm using the long names for the sake of some level of clarity about what location they actually contain. I could use "arewp1, arewp2, arewp3" and have the names be shorter, but then they wouldn't really contain enough information about their location.
