Luck
Depending on who you ask, you may be told that luck influences every random event in the game, or that it does not exist at all. There is little solid information on this hidden variable, and as a result rumors about luck flourish.
Luck probably exists, and probably influences many non-passive happenings, though it should be noted that the wizards have repeatedly and emphatically denied that any luck variable has anything to do with party dicing. Anything you'd use or cast may have luck as a factor, but it's not easy to figure out when this is the case. Certainly interesting things happened to my spellcasting ability after dying twenty times during one memorable eq party:
Cure critical wounds 100% - 179 157 87.71%
Many factors probably influence luck, though which actually do and which are just urban legends is beyond the knowledge of most players.
